Silhouette Studio Print Bleed Trick for Print and Cut

There isn't much customization options with print bleed so it may cause you some grief with certain designs and fonts. But there's a work around for that... here, let me show you.

Combining HTV and Embroidery with Rip Away Applique

Combining HTV and embroidery is a great way for Silhouette crafters who also have an embroidery machine to use their HTV scraps!

Silhouette 101, Silhouette America Blog, Embroidery, Applique, Sewing

The great thing about using heat transfer vinyl with embroidery is it's rip away applique. That means means NO cutting fabric applique which can take time and patience - even with a Silhouette rotary blade!

I actually think this technique with HTV is great for beginners as their first machine applique embroidery project!

Patterned HTV: 3 Reasons I Love Thermoflex Patterned Heat Transfer Vinyl

If you're a fan of patterned heat transfer vinyl (and who isn't?), you know that sometimes cutting and applying it can be a rather confusing process.

silhouette 101, silhouette america blog, htv, patterned htv, heat transfer vinyl

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own

The patterned HTV often comes without a carrier sheet (meaning some HTV goes against the rule of cutting in reverse) and the design can get lost in the pattern making it difficult to weed. But with Thermoflex Fashion Patterns both of those issues are non-existent.  With the Thermoflex patterned HTV there's no second guessing - you cut it just like normal heat transfer vinyl and the back is white making the cut lines easy to see when weeding.

Silhouette CAMEO 4 Tools and Blades: Which Tools are Compatible (And How to Use them)

Confused on which tools can be used in the Silhouette CAMEO 4? You're not alone.

Between two different tool carriages, various tool adapters, and multiple versions of the same tool, it's easy to see why knowing which tool to use in the Silhouette CAMEO 4, 15" Silhouette CAMEO 4 Plus, and Pro can seem like a guessing game.

I was one of the lucky ones to pick up a Brother SE600 from Swing Design before sewing and embroidery machines became impossible to find. I did also find the Brother SE600 on Amazon!
Now that they're finally back in stock I'm sharing this Brother SE600 unboxing and embroidery machine set up.   Plus I have some ideas on how to use an embroidery machine with a Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait machine.

Silhouette Sketch Pen Bleed: How to Avoid It

If you've used the Silhouette sketch pen feature you know that sometimes you can be left with a pool of ink at the very end.

Silhouette 101, Silhouette America Blog, sketch pen, Cameo 4 tutorials, sketch and cut

The ink pool, which can lead to ink bleeds and smears, is caused by the pen or marker just sitting stationary at the end of the sketch for a good 3-5 seconds before returning to the starting position. This quick Silhouette Studio trick can save your sketch projects.

September 11 Never Forget (Free Silhouette Studio Cut File)

It's hard to believe it's been 19 years since September 11, 2001.  I know we all know exactly where we were the moment we heard the unthinkable.  I was on a treadmill in the fitness center, a junior, at Ithaca College.  Even as I write this post on September 10 and I'm tearing up as all the emotions of that day coming flooding back. It's the same feelings I felt standing in Shanksville, PA at the Flight 93 crash site on the 5th anniversary of the attacks working as a television news producer for a local NBC affiliate.  It's always raw emotion.  I think the unthinkable does that to us.

How to Fake a Test Cut With Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait

Did you ever forget to test cut when cutting with your Silhouette CAMEO? Or should I say "forget"?

The problem is if you don't test cut you can't be sure that your material has been properly cut. And once you unload that material from the Silhouette cutting machine, there's no second chance cutting.

How to Press Cricut Infusible Ink on White Glitter HTV

We've shown before how to sublimate on white glitter HTV (with amazing results!) but for those of you without a sublimation printer (or for those who want the look of sublimation on a dark shirt), you can still achieve this stunning effect using Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets instead of a sublimation printer.

The trick is using Cricut Infusible Ink sheets which are basically pre-printed sublimation sheets! Here's how you can use them on glitter HTV!
