My Top 10 Favorite Vinyl Blanks Projects

Silhouette Cameo, vinyl, blanks
Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing 10 of my all time favorite blanks projects.

You know what blanks are right?  They're the "things" in the saying "Vinyl all the things".  Ah ha I knew you'd get it when I explained it that way.

I love blanks because they give you the chance to pretty much personalize and customize any way you want to.  Punch Place Plus is one of my go-to suppliers for blanks because of their huge assortment of blanks and their rock bottom prices.

All 10 of these blanks projects were done using Punch Place Plus blanks which is pretty hard to believe considering there's everything from jewelry to burlap to doll accessories and workout gear in the group!

And in no particular order here are my top 10 favorites...Just click on the title to go to the Silhouette School tutorial. Within each tutorial you'll be given the supply list and more details on the blanks needed.

Oh, and don't forget to join Punch Place Plus' new Acrylic Cloth Blanks Facebook group where you'll be among the first notified of new blanks available, but also you'll find inspiration and ideas from other users who are working with the same products!!

Note: This post may contain affiliate links. By clicking on them and purchasing products through my links, I receive a small commission. That's what helps fund Silhouette School so I can keep buying new Silhouette-related products to show you how to get the most out of your machine!

Trick to Silhouette Cutting Photos Perfectly (Even Without PixScan)

Silhouette, cutting photos, Silhouette tip

Did you ever try to cut out part of a photo only for it to be a smidge off and bam there goes your little girl's chin or ear or whatever? It's tough to do...but with this little trick, things just got a whole lot easier! Plus, you don't even need Pixscan for the perfectly precise cut.  I'm going to demonstrate this by making a photo ornament with some flat acrylic blank ornaments from Punch Place Plus.

DIY Photo Phone Case Cover: Silhouette Print And Cut Tutorial (Free .Studio Cut File)

DIY, do it yourself, photo phone case cover, Silhouette tutorial, print and cut, free Silhouette Studio file

My phone is full of pictures of my kids and now my phone case is adorned with their adorable little faces, as well.  This is actually a really easy project to do using the Silhouette.  I have the iPhone4 and used a blank case from Punch Place Plus. They have a really nice selection of colors, have covers for various phones, and are super affordable....I'm talking a two-pack of phone cases for less than $2. (Plus, PPP has lots more than just phone cases so take a browse around if you're looking for anything from blank headbands to acrylic bracelets cuffs to doll shirts and so much more....all of which can be decorated with vinyl and/or HTV.)

DIY Shoe Clips: 4 Fun Silhouette Projects

A few weeks ago I discovered the DIY shoe clip 'kits' on Punch Place Plus website and I just knew I had to try them out.  The colorful alta claps, which sell for $4.25 for a pack of 25,  were just screaming for some vinyl.  Once I got them and the clip (sold separately), I realized I could make so much more than just vinylized-shoe clips.

I started playing around and here are a few fun ways I turned some acrylic alta discs and clips into fun accessories, for boys, girls, and babies!

If you follow our sister site, Two It Yourself, at all you know I'm a bit of a knockoff-oholic.  Pottery Barn is my favorite...but when I picked up a bunch of these acrylic cuffs from Punch Place Plus for just $1.65 each I knew at least one of them was destined for a Chanel knockoff.   Um...no way would I pay the $475 price tag and when you see just how easy this was to make, you will wonder who would!

All Things Silhouette Conference: New Class & Speaker Details, Plus Early Bird Rate Ending Soon

All Things Silhouette Conference

All Things Silhouette Conference Recap and More Conference Dates!

As many of you know, I took Silhouette School on the road for the first time last weekend to speak at the All Things Silhouette Conference in Peachtree City, Georgia - about 30 minutes outside Atlanta.  First let me clear one thing up - I can take NO credit for organizing this massive undertaking - that was all Terri Johnson of Terri Johnson Creates.

What I can tell you is Terri called me earlier this year and said, "I have this crazy idea to put on a one-of-a-kind Silhouette conference and I want you to be the keynote. Would you do it?"  Does this lady I know I blog in my pajamas from my couch while switching loads of laundry and cleaning up milk spills?

5 Minute Custom Coasters: Silhouette Tutorial

Silhouette tutorial, custom coasters, DIY, do it yourself
Looking for a quick, easy, inexpensive and custom gift?  I have the perfect idea for you today: custom coasters!  Seriously these took me like 5 minutes to make...

First, you need to get yourself some blank coasters.   I got these clear 3.5" square inch acrylic coasters from Punch Place Plus. They come in a pack of four with the 16 rubber bumpers for...wait for it: $4.49.  You can find them by clicking the "Acrylic, Plastic, Glass, Metal Blanks section on the left sidebar of PPP or by searching "Acrylic Coasters" in the search bar here.

In Silhouette Studio you can create whatever type of design you want. I have a thing for monograms and gold right now so I went in that direction.  I simply typed out a capital V and then copy and pasted it four times. I then selected each V individually and changed the font until I found four V's I liked.

Engraving with Silhouette: 7 Tips to the Perfect Engraving

 Engraving, Silhouette, Silhouette tutorial, tips
I have never been so excited to share a Silhouette tutorial with you. Not only have I been working on perfecting this engraving process for a week now, but I've quite literally tried dozens of combinations of settings and tools until I finally figured out the best way to get a clean, legible, centered, and (relatively) deep engraving.

Premium HTV Stretch Review & Project Ideas (Silhouette Tutorial)

Silhouette tutorial, premium HTV stretch, premium heat transfer vinyl stretch, review, project ideas

A couple of months ago I noticed a new type of heat transfer vinyl on Expressions Vinyl.  It's called Premium HTV and since inquiring minds want to know...I reached out to the good people at EV and asked what it was all about.  What makes it so 'premium', after all?

Well it turns out it's biggest brags are its super stretchability, ultra-matte finish and soft, thin texture.
If you've ever put a big ol' HTV design on a shirt you know it can make it a little..'stiff' or bulky, but not this premium HTV.   I told them I think I need to see this for myself so I can tell my fine readers if this is worth the extra dough. So Expressions Vinyl, being the awesome sauce that they are, sent me a few samples to test.
