Silhouette Paper & Card Tutorial: Cutting the Best Fold Line

I hear you...you want more paper crafting tutorials on Silhouette School. And so today I've brought in our Silhouette School regular contributors and paper experts, mom and daughter duo Becky and Glenna, from My Paper Craze. 

Hi there!  It's Becky and Glenna from My Paper Craze substituting today to bring you another fabulous tutorial!  As a follow-up to our first tutorial (Embossing with the Silhouette), we wanted to address the very important issue of Comparing Fold Lines: What's the Difference?

So one of the most popular questions I've received about using the embossing tool for the Silhouette is if you can use the method to emboss fold lines. Unfortunately, the answer is no, because the Silhouette is not able to emboss deep enough lines into cardstock to successfully work in that capacity.  HOWEVER, today we bring you THREE additional fold line methods that will solve this problem for you!

Pottery Barn Knockoff Easter Bunny Banner (Made Easy with Silhouette)

How to Cut Fabric with Silhouette

I'm not always happy when my kindergartner has a sub, but I'm thrilled when we have a substitute teacher here at Silhouette School.  Today I'm super happy to welcome Daniela from the blog Put a Bird On It. Awesome blog name, right?

Daneila is sharing a basic beginner-level tutorial with us on how to cut fabric.  She's all about taking the intimidation out of it so if you haven't tried cutting fabric with your Silhouette, yet, now you have no excuses.

Daniela cut some mini flags for a wreath bunting, but her step by step tutorial - including tips on using interfacing - can be applied to any fabric project.

Burlap Easter Bunny Banner (Substitute Teacher Project)

So if you follow our sister site, Two It Yourself, you know that I may could quite possibly be considered a burlap-aholic. Seriously. I think I have a problem. I currently have 50+ yards of burlap sitting in my craft room. I am not exaggerating.  That's exactly why I am so excited to share Cheryl from Snaps of Ginger's burlap bunny bunting project with you today.

Cheryl created this adorable Easter bunny banner using paper-backed burlap from the Recollections Organic Textures Paper 12"x12" Pad cut on her Silhouette. Genius - right?!  Since I am a huge fan of all things burlap and I make a banner for pretty much every season (again, I am serious), I immediately knew I wanted to share this easy Easter project with all of you.

How to Make Die Cuts to Match Stamps

I'm so excited that we have a Sub in the classroom today!  I'm cutting right to the chase and handing over the reigns to two lovely ladies - a mom and daughter team....

Hi there! We're Becky and Glenna from My Paper Craze and we're honored to share a Silhouette tutorial with you today! We started off as paper crafters before we discovered the all-powerful Silhouette electronic cutting machines. While we tinkered with a little of everything, we {LOVED} making handmade cards. We amassed large stamp collections and ooo'd and ahh'd over all the beautiful stamps we could collect and use. Our favorites were the stamps with matching die cuts, so that we could add that special "pop" on our cards or layouts.

With that little intro said, our whole world of stamping opened up when we discovered this neat trick using our Silhouette machines... Making Your Own Die Cuts to match your stamps! Gone are the days of creating your layout around your stamps, but rather altering your stamps to match your layout! The rule of thumb is that if you can trace your image then you can cut your image.  I'll show you how I created the die cut file for the flower on this card.
