A few weeks back I got this genius idea (bahaha little pat on my own back there) to make yet another DIY Halloween costume...but not just any Halloween costume this year! I needed one that my fellow Silhouette crafters (YOU!) would really appreciate. One you could really get behind.
One that when I wear it for trick or treating around the neighborhood EVERYONE will be asking me "What the heck are you?" It's like my own little secret...except my kids and Bob fully 'got it' so I'm glad I at least resemble what I'm supposed to resemble. I mean I think I look pretty sharp. (Note the blade on top, people!)

Free Font Manager to Help Organize and Categorize Silhouete Studio Fonts
Thursday, October 27, 2016
I get more questions about font management in Silhouette Studio than pretty much anything else. While Silhouette Studio's font management is rather limited in the current versions of the software, there are third party software programs that can be extremely helpful especially when you're trying to sort commercial fonts and view special font glyphs and characters.
Silhouette School weekly contributor Becky Dykes is here today to introduce you to one free font management software she's found extremely helpful!
Finding and Installing Previous Versions of Silhouette Studio
Wednesday, October 26, 2016
Did you know that it's possible to revert back to older versions of Silhouette Studio? This may be necessary for any number of reasons. One of the big reasons Silhouette users need to go back to an older version of Silhouette Studio is to restore their library. Sometimes when you upgrade to a new versions of Silhouette Studio, your whole library doesn't transfer over. Most times, reverting back to an older version of Silhouette Studio will bring back the complete library.
Not only does Silhouette America offer the current version of the Silhouette Studio for download, they also older versions - and a lot of them. First you should find out what version of Silhouette Studio you are running.

How to Print Your Entire Silhouette Studio Library Designs
Tuesday, October 25, 2016
I get a decent number of requests from Silhouette CAMEO, Portrait, and Curio users who want to know how to print their Silhouette Studio Library designs.
I can tell you there's no 'easy' way to do it - as in a "Print Library" button. However, there is a pretty easy - work around for those who want to print out their entire Silhouette Studio library of designs and have some time to spend on it.

Advantages of Screen Printing with Silhouette and Vinyl (and book #9)
Monday, October 17, 2016
I've shared tutorials on the blog previously about how to screen print with Silhouette vinyl...but I get a lot of questions about "why would I screen print rather than use heat transfer vinyl or a freezer paper stencil." So today I thought I'd answer that question, because it is a good one!
I should start off by saying I love screen printing, freezer paper stencils and heat transfer vinyl, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. When screen printing with Silhouette you cut a vinyl stencil, place it on a screen and use a squeegee to push an even layer of paint over a screen and onto the surface below. It's then set with heat.

Silhouette Print and Cut Registration Failed on Glossy Paper? Here's the Fix!
Tuesday, October 11, 2016
If you've ever tried to do a Silhouette Print and Cut on glossy, pearlized, foil or shiny paper only to have the registration fail - fear not! Do I have a Silhouette CAMEO hack for you!
The print and cut problem is potentially threefold:

The print and cut problem is potentially threefold:
- The glossy-ness of the paper causes the rollers to slip and actually grab - and then print on - the piece of paper below the sticker paper in the printer tray
- The glossy-ness of the paper prevents the printer rollers from grabbing the paper at the right time therefore printing the registration marks too high on the page
- The glare caused by the glossy paper prevents the machine from properly reading the registration marks.
DIY Cutting Paper Medallions wiith Silhouette CAMEO (Free Cut File)
Monday, October 10, 2016
A few months back I made a paper medallion wreath for my sister's baby shower and you all went crazy for it when I shared on Instagram! Well today I'm here to tell you how I made each and every one of those paper medallions with the help of my Silhouette CAMEO.
Now if you'll excuse me - I have been a bad blogger. Since I didn't plan on using the baby shower wreath as a tutorial I didn't take any pictures of the process so I had to go make a new set of medallions just for this tutorial. That'll teach me!

Tips for Designing in Silhouette Studio Using Basic Shapes
Thursday, October 6, 2016
One of my most common questions from Silhouette users is how to design their own files in Silhouette Studio.
There are tons of reasons to create your own instead of purchase, including the ability to sell your original files in SVG format. With Halloween right around the corner, Silhouette School weekly contributor Becky Dykes is here with a tutorial on how to create your own witch hat using a few basic shapes in Silhouette Studio.
Organizing Commericial Use Files in Silhouette Studio Library Folders
Wednesday, October 5, 2016
I get a lot of questions about how to organize commercial use files in the Silhouette Studio library....those are files you purchase or get as part of Silhouette U or buy the license to from the Silhouette Store. The key is adding custom folders so you separate out those files you have the commercial license to from the rest of your personal use only files.
