Silhouette CAMEO 4 Cross Cutter Tutorial

One of the new features of the Silhouette CAMEO 4 is the built in roll trimmer or cross cutter. It's a great addition to the new CAMEO - but it's only useful if you intentionally set up your vinyl and HTV cuts to use it - BEFORE you cut.

Rather than your having the material feed back out the front of the machine, when the cut is complete, you want the vinyl to feed through the back.

Sublimation vs DTF: What is the Difference? Side by Side Comparison

With the rapid rise in interest in DTF printing, I have been getting a lot of questions about the differences between Sublimation vs DTF.

silhouette 101, silhouette america blog, epson f170, sawgrass, uninet 100

The reason DTF or Direct to Film printing, specifically in the smaller desktop size, has become so popular is in part because of sublimation. Both processes are print and press. There is no cutting or weeding required which makes both sublimation and DTF ideal for full color graphics and images.

DTF, however, solves one of sublimation's biggest issues: the inability to apply directly to darks and cottons. But that's just one of several big differences. Read on for more on the differences between sublimation and DTF and which you may want to consider for your small business.

There are various reason why you might want to print from Silhouette Studio and they may not all include printing and cutting. For example, you can print to your sublimation printer directly from Silhouette Studio and never use your CAMEO at all for the project.

Read on for how to print from Silhouette Studio.

DTF and DTG Printer in One: Epson F2100 Everything You Need to Know

If you're looking for a t-shirt printer that will do it all to take your t-shirt business to the next level, I may have finally found the one.

Epson F2100, DTF Printer, Epson, DTG printer, direct to film, direct to garment

The Epson F2100 is a DTF and DTG printer in one meaning it can print directly on darks, lights, any fabric type and DTF film. It prints white, works on MAC and PC, has relatively easy maintenance, and includes everything you need to get started - including ink.

That's a lot of box checking, right?

The Epson F2100 DTG and DTG Printer is as close to a do it all printer for t shirts and DTF transfers that you're going to find under $12k $10k (new price reduction!!).  This is not a printer for crafters - the size, the price, the use requirements to maintain it are just not for anyone who's not consistently selling.

But for small businesses looking to stop turning down shirt orders that a sublimation printer isn't up for (at least efficiently) while also having the ability to print the finished garment or the ready-to-press transfer the F2100 is a great option.  Read on to find out more about the Epson Surecolor F2100 DTG and DTF combo printer.

How to (Easily) Make Wavy Text in Silhouette Studio

Tired of plain old boring straight text?  Perhaps sometime you want to wrap text around a circle as we showed you how to do here or make it wavy like a roller coaster.  If so, you're in the right spot.

Making wavy text is pretty simple to do actually.  The most complicated part is getting the wave shape - but we even have a work around for that, if you'd like!

What is DTF Transfer Printing? Process Explained (Video)

You've probably heard the new "buzz" term "DTF" around the crafting and small business industry growing increasingly more frequent.  Today I'm going to not only explain, but show you the DTF transfer printing process.

dtf printer, direct to film, dtf, tshirt transfers, small business, dtf comparison, dtf videos

You'll see how DTF is so useful especially with full color designs that you want to put on dark or cotton shirts, or when you don't feel like weeding or when it's nearly impossible to cut and layer.

There are currently a handful of desktop DTF printers available (and I have several of them: Roland BN-20D, Prestige A3+, Uninet 100 and Epson F2100 (DTF and DTG combo printer) for small businesses.

The low price point of about $3500 and the routine maintenance required puts them out of what I would ever recommend for a hobby crafter (and there are other options if you want DTF transfers but won't be printing regularly). However if you have a small t shirt business and you're looking to grow by offering darks and cotton shirts, a direct to film printer is something to consider.
