Patterned HTV in Fun New Patterns and Dimensions (Giveaway & Free Silhouette Studio Design)

Patterned Heat Transfer Vinyl has become so popular with crafters, we're seeing a lot more of it!

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.
I recently got my hands on some of Chemica's patterned and 3D fashion HTV and I'm in love! Not only do they have a bunch of fun patterns and dimension, but they're easy to cut, weed, and apply. And as an added bonus they have some stretch to them!!

And if you like free Silhouette Studio files and giveaways - read to the end 'cause I have both for you today!

This is just a small sampling of Chemica's Fashion Heat Transfer Vinyls.

Some of them - like the buffalo plaid HTV - are thin and smooth, while some have dimension to them. The leather HTV is amazingly soft and bumpy and stretching without being bulky!

I thought it would look adorable as a pair of cowboy boots (and for a football design), but was curious how it would cut.  I started by creating a design in Silhouette Studio (which you can download as a free Silhouette Studio design here).

The Chemica fashion line of patterned HTV, which you can find at these Chemica distributors (more recommendations below), is unlike a lot of patterned heat transfer vinyl, in that it comes on a carrier sheet.  That means you want to mirror the design in Silhouette Studio just like you normally would for solid color HTV.

I started with the leather HTV.  Make sure you put the carrier sheet or shiny side down onto the mat to cut.

I found that the cut settings of Blade 3, Speed 2, Force 20 worked great for the Chemica 3D fashion HTV!  The leather heat transfer vinyl cut and weeded very easily.

The buffalo plaid and other smooth patterned heat transfer vinyls cut perfectly on the Silhouette Studio default settings for Heat Transfer Vinyl, Smooth.

When you're ready to apply the HTV, you want to put the smooth HTV on first, if you're using a mix of 3D and smooth HTV on the same design to ensure you get a solid press on both.

The little bit of dimension on the leather could prevent a full press on the smooth, if applied first.

The Chemica Fashion HTV should be applied between 300 and 320 degrees for about 20 seconds. To prevent over pressing, tack all but the last layer for about 5 seconds.  It's a cold peel, so after pressing, wait for it to cool before peeling off the carrier sheet.

Once you put the last layer on press it for a full 20 seconds.

I was loving the buffalo plaid so much I cut two more hearts for elbow patches. It turned out sooo cute!

I just love how many options there are to create fun things with this patterned HTV! Do you know how much time the stars and stripes HTV saved me from having to cut or weed out all those stars?  Just cut two solid pieces and apply!
