Fear not...there's an easy fix and it's one that I wish I could plaster in big.bold.letters on every CAMEO 3 box that is shipped out. Before you make your first cut with the Silhouette CAMEO 3...you need to update the firmware.

See that first little bullet point there? Yeah....

Sure, the CAMEO 3 Paused status can be temporarily fixed by unplugging the machine and powering it off and on sometimes. But other times the software gets stuck on the Paused status (recognize this?!)...that's why you need a better fix and that's found with the firmware update.

The firmware is basically the software inside the Silhouette cutting machine. It's different than Silhouette Studio....so yes, you need to download both Silhouette Studio Version 3.118 AND you need to do the firmware update for the CAMEO 3 - both available from the Silhouette America website. The CAMEO 3 firmware update can be found here.

Once you download the firmware update onto your computer find the file.

Click the Silhouette-looking icon and follow the on-screen prompts.  The process takes about 15 minutes and will have you go through a series of plugging and unplugging the machine from the computer and powering it on and off.

Now what if you have a Silhouette CAMEO 3 and you haven't experienced the Paused status problem? Is it worth updating the firmware? Before you can decide you should check what version of the firmware your machine is running.

To do so, power on your Silhouette CAMEO 3 and tap the gear icon on the touch screen. Click the down arrow until you get to Firmware. Tap the Firmware button and you'll see what version of the firmware your machine is running.
