Silhouette CAMEO 3 Firmware Update Errors: 3 Ways to Fix It

One of the first things Silhouette CAMEO 3 users should do is update their firmware to V1.40 on their cutting machine.  But...what happens if your computer can't seem to successfully complete the firmware update?

There are actually three different ways to fix the issue and they're all pretty easy.

The Firmware error, while trying to update to Firmware V1.40, seems to specifically impact Silhouette CAMEO 3 users who are working on a MAC computer - specifically those who are running the Sierra operating system (OS) or a sub-version of Sierra such as El Capitan.

For those users, there are three different things you can do to try to fix the Firmware errors.

First, after downloading the firmware files onto your computer from the Silhouette America website - restart your computer. Do this before you go through the process of updating the firmware.

The next option, if that doesn't work, is to go through the steps on Silhouette America's support page for updating the firmware while running Sierra OS. This involves just one or two extra steps.

This can be pretty much any computer that's running a different operating system - even a PC.

Remember - the firmware update, while downloaded onto the computer, is directly related to the Silhouette CAMEO 3 cutting machine. It has NOTHING to do with the Silhouette Studio software. In fact the computer used for completing the Firmware update doesn't even need to have Silhouette Studio loaded on it. It just needs to be able to download the Firmware update from the Silhouette America website and have a USB port where the CAMEO 3 can be plugged in and powered on.

  1. Will this take care of the dreaded diagonal line issue? I have researched and updated everything that threads have said to do. I am seriously at my wits end. I have the 2 and the 3 and they both do it! They also cut so slow, like a dot a minute- not exaggerating!! It takes 2 hrs to cut 10 inches-- and then- I get the diagonal line!!! I have taken the amount of info that gets sent from default 1000 and set it to 500 already- I really don't know what else to do!! I have all of your books and absolutely LOVE silhouetteschool but my business is suffering and I don't know what else to do!!! Can you tell I am Desperate!!? Lol!!! Have a GREAT day!! 2. What about issues with installing on a Windows PC? I haven't been able to get it to work yet (but then I haven't been able to get the bluetooth to ever work either so I've about given up on Silhouette).
