Using contact paper or adhesive vinyl as stencil material are good, inexpensive options- but they only work for one-off projects. For true reusable stencils you'll want to go with sturdy (and cleanable) Silhouette stencil material sheets AND a stencil-ready design.

My friend Alexis over at Persia Lou has an awesome step by step how to for cutting reusable stencils with Silhouette so I'm not going to re-invent the wheel here. Check out her free tutorial and the adorable little buffalo plaid painted wood planter she made!

Another option - if you can't find the Silhouette stencil material - is to use laminator sheets as stencils. I shared this hack on Silhouette School Blog and on our Youtube channel a few years ago.
