Silhouette CAMEO 3 with (Optional) Bluetooth and AutoBlade Coming in 2016 (& Full List of New Products)

Silhouette America announced Friday it will be releasing the Silhouette CAMEO 3 which can be used with a new Silhouette AutoBlade (auto-adjusting cutting blade) later this summer!  The CAMEO 3 will also come with optional Bluetooth. Both products are scheduled to be released in August 2016.

The AutoBlade technology, which allows the Silhouette cutting blade to auto adjust its depth depending on the material being cut, can only be used with the new CAMEO 3.  The Silhouette AutoBlade is a huge step for Silhouette as it will compete directly with Circut's SmartBlade.  A group of bloggers I interviewed recently, who use both the Cricut and the Silhouette, all mentioned the Cricut SmartBlade as one of the biggest (and only) advantages Cricut has over the Silhouette CAMEO.

The Silhouette CAMEO 3 Bluetooth bundle will include the new cutting machine, power adapter, USB cord, cutting mat, AutoBlade, and Bluetooth adapter (for the CAMEO 3 Bluetooth edition).

The CAMEO 3 Bluetooth Bundle will retail for $299. The MSRP on the Silhouette AutoBlade is $12.99.

Silhouette America also announced a long list of new and newly improved products all of which are slated to be released between August and October 2016.

In addition, Silhouette America announced several upgrade and add-ons to the design software including Silhouette Studio 4.0 which will be used with the new CAMEO 3, Silhouette Studio 3D and updates to the Silhouette mobile app.

  1. There's some great stuff in those lists. Shrink Plastic!!! I have always wanted my Silhouette machine to be able to cut that. I hope it is the printable kind. What would be the greatest would be if you could print it on both sides, maybe doable with pixscan?
I guess most of the things in the updated products list will be usable on the old machines, but they are offering plenty of reasons to get a Cameo Version 3 as well. Great News!

    1. You will LOVE your Cameo 2!! Only had mine for 5 months and will happily wait for Cameo 4. I actually like to decide my own blade adjustments. AND I want a pen tool on board (like the Cricut Explore) along with these other great features.

    2. I too just purchased a new cameo. First time owner of any die cut machine. I have had some issues with the Cameo, cutting specialty paper; velvet, glitter, paper backed burlap... even adjusting a new blade to the highest setting. with no luck. I don't think I will be making another $300 investment when this one is still two months old. I don't mind adjusting the blade manually, but I do mind when it won't cut the paper I want to use.

  7. How long before we can get the Cameo 3 in the UK please? I was just about to order the Cameo 2 but will hold on now. Do hope we won't still have to pay almost twice the cost that it is in the USA

    1. It should be available in the UK at the same time as the US. The base price is the same but you have to remember that prices in the US do not include taxes while in EU countries the importer pays the VAT which is also higher than US import duties.

  8. Do you know if Sil Studio 4.0 will be for all machines or only the Cameo3? x

  9. I think this machine sounds awesome. I just have the first cameo and I know I am not doing all the things it could do. What is the advantage of having the dual carriage?

  10. Looks like a cool machine :) Will they be taking in tradeins from the old machine users? I would hate to see them begin to be like cricut and forget about us. I'm very happy with my original cameo, but the upgrades so look pretty cool :)

  11. Will no doubt have to wait longer in Australia for the release. Can't wait to see the new version. I have had my current machine for 3 years now and was thinking that maybe I was due for an upgrade. Will wait for the 4 now. Wooohooo.

  12. Whoops - meant will wait for the 3 now.

  13. The new machine looks great and I like the new additions. But is it quieter than the old models?

  14. It is a shame the autoblade will most likely be just for the Cameo 3. :(

  15. Oy. I wish they would make a tote for the Curio. Also more tools for the Curio...or at least maybe let us know if they are cross-compatible. :\

    The Cameo 3 sounds AMAZING!

  16. My Cameo is only a few months old. No way am I going to buy a whole new machine for these new features. Wish the AutoBlade were backwards compatible.
