Silhouette CAMEO 4 vs CAMEO 4 Pro: What's the Same and What's Changed on the 24" CAMEO

If you're wondering what the differences are between the Silhouette CAMEO 4 and the CAMEO Pro you've come to the right spot.

While the Silhouette CAMEO 4 vs CAMEO 4 Plus (15" Silhouette) are minimal, there are some changes to the Silhouette CAMEO 4 Pro which makes the list of differences between it and the CAMEO 4 and CAMEO Plus longer.

Most of the differences between Silhouette CAMEO 4 and CAMEO 4 Pro come down to cosmetic rather than features - as the features and cutting capabilities including force and speed are all the same.

Silhouette CAMEO 4 vs CAMEO Pro

Cutting Width

The obvious differences between the CAMEO 4 and CAMEO 4 Pro are the size. The CAMEO 4 is a 12" Silhouette cutting machine while the CAMEO Pro has a max cutting width twice as wide at 24".

Both machines can cut up to 60' long without a cutting mat.

The length, however, is the only difference in size as the depth and height dimensions of all three CAMEO 4 machines - CAMEO 4, CAMEO 4 Plus, CAMEO 4 Pro - is the same.

CAMEO 4 Pro Price

The price of the Silhouette CAMEO Pro is another obvious difference. The 24" Silhouette cutting machine retails at $499.99 while the smaller 12" CAMEO 4 retails at $299.99.

Silhouette CAMEO Pro bundles start at $529 but expect the prices to increase more dramatically for bundles especially for bundles that include the wider and longer 24" materials which will naturally drive up the cost.

Cosmetic Changes to CAMEO Pro

The Silhouette CAMEO Pro looks slightly different than the Silhouette CAMEO 4 and the 15" Silhouette CAMEO Plus. The cosmetic changes - which you really need to look close for - were needed due to the changes made to roll feeder and the roller bar. Both needed to be updated and stabilized on the 24" Silhouette model to accommodate the larger machine.

CAMEO Pro Roll Feeder

One of the biggest complaints with the Silhouette CAMEO 4 and CAMEO Plus is the stability of the built in roll feeder.  The roll feeder on the smaller machines is designed in such a way that it often retracts as rolls of vinyl are fed through the machine.  My personal concern was that a roll feeder designed in the same way on the 24" Silhouette CAMEO Pro would never be able to successfully handle bigger, wider, and heavier rolls of material. Thankfully Silhouette America has addressed this issue by redesigning the roll feeder on the CAMEO Pro.  The redesign, however, has forced a minor change to the look of the front of the machine.

It's also required a change to the roll feeder. Instead of a built in roll feeder like the smaller CAMEO 4 models, the CAMEO 4 Pro includes a 4-piece detachable roll feeder that requires assembly to be used.

Roller Bar and Rollers

The Silhouette CAMEO Pro Roller Bar is also different than any of the other Silhouette machines. While the tool carriage is the same on the CAMEO 4 vs CAMEO Pro, the roll feeder is squared off and the rollers are not exposed.

What's Included (and What's Not) with the CAMEO 4 Pro vs CAMEO 4

The 12 and 15" Silhouette CAMEO 4 machines include four tool adapters with the machine, while the Silhouette CAMEO 4 Pro only includes the blue sketch pen tool adapter.  To use any of the manually adjustable A Silhouette Tools in the CAMEO Pro, you will need to purchase the additional adapters or wait until new B style tools are released.

The CAMEO Pro also includes a mat support block which is not included with the small Silhouette CAMEO 4 machines.

Silhouette CAMEO Plus vs CAMEO Pro

The Silhouette CAMEO Plus and CAMEO Pro have the same differences except the size of the Plus is 15" wide vs 24" to the Pro and the price difference is $399.99 vs $499.99 CAMEO Pro price tag.

Similarities between CAMEO 4, Plus, and Pro

Compared to the list of differences above, the list of similarities between the Silhouette CAMEO 4 machines is much longer.
