Silhouette CAMEO 1, CAMEO 2, and Portrait 1: Tools and Machine Compatibility Series

Not sure which tools can be used in your older model Silhouette CAMEO or original Portrait 1?

Let's get to the bottom of tool compatibility for the Silhouette CAMEO 1, CAMEO 2, and Portrait.

The Silhouette CAMEO 1, CAMEO 2, and Portrait 1 all have the same single tool carriage which is why we can lump them all into the same group as far as tool compatibility.

The tool carriage they share accepts some (but not all) of what Silhouette America has newly dubbed "A" tools. These tools are the manually adjustable, thinner bodies, rounded tools.

"A" Silhouette Tools Compatible with CAMEO 1, CAMEO 2, Portrait 1

Keep in mind there are several "A" tools that are not compatible with the CAMEO 1, 2, and Portrait 1- namely the Autoblade and the 2mm Kraft blade.  Likewise the B and C tools also will not fit - these are the flat back tools (AutoBlade, 3mm Kraft blade, Rotary Blade, Punch tool, etc) that ONLY work in the CAMEO 4 series.

There are several off-brand tools that will fit into the Silhouette CAMEO 1, CAMEO 2, and Portrait 1 including the Amy Chomas pen and marker holders, the Foil Quill tips, and the CB09 blade.

  2. Is there a deep cut blade (silhouette or otherwise) that can be used with the cameo 1?
