Vinyl Roll Bundles Are a Steal...But Why Are They Shipped Like That?!

If you've ever purchased a bundle pack of vinyl or Heat Transfer Vinyl rolls it may have come all rolled together.

The most efficient and affordable way to package 12 6' rolls of vinyl, for example, is by rolling it all together into one large roll.  In other words, rolling it this way is done to keep the shipping price reasonable (or even free!).
I ordered this 12 roll pack of Oracal 651 a few months back and it came in a relatively small box considering there were 12 6' rolls of vinyl plus transfer tape in it!  This is how it was packaged.

While it took me a few minutes to unwrap the master roll it was worth the time considering the price per square foot of buying vinyl this way is just .51! If the vinyl rolls were individually rolled or shipped flat a bigger (more expensive to ship) box would be necessary eating into the lower price of the vinyl! So I'll take it unrolling it myself ;)

When you get the vinyl or HTV roll bundles this way you'll likely want to unroll or re-roll each sheet for storage rather than trying to pull out a 6' long sheet of vinyl you need when you're ready to cut that color.  Before you just rip off the piece of tape that's holding it all together - WAIT!

First find a flat surface where you have some room to work and grab a roll of tape. Washi tape works well.

How you un-tape the master vinyl roll is important as it can be the difference between ripping or bubbling your vinyl or keep it completely flat on the backing!

Check out this video for tips on exactly how to unpack, unroll, and re-roll your bundle of vinyl rolls!

Now that you know how to unroll them, grab a 12 pack of Oracal 651 rolls or bundle of Siser Heat Transfer Vinyl rolls.
