Consider this your complete beginner's guide to getting started with the EufyMake E1 UV printer. I'm going to walk you through everything - from unboxing and setup to your very first print.
The best part? I have videos on every single one of these steps, so I'll link to those along the way for extra support and to see exactly what I mean.
New to UV printing? Start here first
If this is your first UV printer, you might want to check out a couple of my other posts before diving in. I have a full breakdown of DTF vs. UV DTF printing so you understand exactly what a UV printer can do and if a printer is actually best for you because there are alternatives like UV DTF Gang Sheet Builders where you can order custom UV stickers, transfers, sheets and wraps.
I also have a tutorial on how to apply UV DTF transfers to tumblers, mugs and glass when you're ready to start making things regardless of if you're printing them yourself or order UV transfers.
Already familiar with UV printing? Let's get started with EufyMake E1 UV Printer!
Getting started with the EufyMake E1 UV printer
We're going to walk through four main steps to get your new UV printer up and running. Give yourself at least an hour or two to go from unboxing to first print - there's a bit of setup involved, but I promise it's all very easy!
Here's what we'll cover:
1. Unboxing
2. EufyMake Studio Software Setup
3. EufyMake E1 Printer Set Up
a. Ink Installation
b. EufyMake app Setup
c. Test prints
d. Camera calibration
4. First print on the EufyMake E1
Step 1: Unboxing the EufyMake E1
Depending on what eufyMake E1 bundle you purchase(d) you may have anywhere from just two boxes (the printer and the ink) to a dozen or more boxes (like I did)!
You can check out the EufyMake E1 UV Printer Unboxing here to see what all is included and how to safely unpack your UV printer.
What you need to get started with the EufyMake E1 is really just the UV printer and the ink, but of course you'll likely want to add on more accessories eventually - like the rotary and film roll feeder and laminator. I shared a EufyMake E1 Extended Unboxing with All Accessories and blanks in this video for you to check out if you want to see everything!
Steps 2: eufyMake Studio Software Setup
One of the most common questions I get is - what order do I do all of this in? Here's what I recommend: unboxing the printer or install the software FIRST (in either order). You can actually install the software on your computer before the machine even gets delivered.
The desktop software, eufyMake Studio, is both PC and Mac compatible. It will connect wirelessly to your printer and can be used in addition to or instead of the mobile app - which we'll install in the next step.
I would suggest you install the software before you set up your UV Printer. Watch the step by step video for how to setup download and install the EufyMake Studio software here.
Step 3: eufyMake E1 Printer Set Up
Once everything is out of the box and the software is installed you can move on to getting the UV printer set up. This includes removing the packing materials, powering on the printer, installing the ink cartridges, installing the mobile app, and doing your first test prints. Give yourself at least a 30-45 minutes for this part of the set up process.
I'll also go over how to lock and unlock the different platforms and how to download and install the app. The app will then guide you through charging the inks (pushing ink through the lines) and completing a test print along with camera calibration.
My EufyMake UV Printer and App set up video will take you step by step - but I would suggest when you get to the screen on the app to do your first print (not first test print) you STOP and switch to the desktop software.
Step 4: Your First Print on the EufyMake E1!
The app is going to push you to pick a quick project and click print. Don't do it.
I repeat: Do. Not. Do. It.
You'll be questioning your decision on purchasing the EufyMake on the simple fact of how long the suggested design takes to print.
While the final result is great the suggested designs are full of textures and 3d layers resulting in a 20-30 minute print for a small 2"x3" magnet (if you even hit your mark...I did not because I didn't know the basics yet... so learn from my mistake).
Believe me you don't want to waste a bunch of time and materials and ink doing a complicated textured print right out of the box.
Instead my suggestion is to start SIMPLE and FAST and avoid texture on your first print. Learn the basics and fundamentals first so you can understand how the EufyMake E1 UV printer works and master the basic workflow before you add in time consuming processes like textured UV prints. For comparison, this flat print took less than 4 minutes - much more beginner friendly.
