How to Get Fonts from Silhouette Design Store into Studio

If you purchased a font from the Silhouette Design store and now can't figure out how to get it into Silhouette Studio - it's a pretty common issue. 

There's actually a specific place fonts from the Design Store go, and I'm going to show you exactly how to find them AND give you an alternative method if you want to use those fonts outside of Silhouette Studio too.

Where Design Store Fonts Actually Go

When you purchase a font from the Silhouette Design Store, it doesn't automatically show up in your regular font list like the fonts installed on your computer. Instead, it goes to a specific location in Silhouette Studio.

After you complete your purchase on the Design Store, open Silhouette Studio and go to your Library. Look for the "Fonts" folder. This is where fonts from the Design Store can be found. 

Make Sure Your Library Syncs

In order to make sure your Design Store fonts show up here, you want to make sure you library has synced. When you sync it allows your Silhouette library and your Silhouette Design Store account to...well, sync.

If your purchased font isn't in the Fonts folder there's a few things to check. In Silhouette Studio click Library and then click your name at the top.  In the dropdown, make sure you don't have "Work Offline" checked.  Work Offline means your library is not connected to your network, which prevents syncing between the Design Store and Silhouette Studio.

If Work Offline was checked, uncheck it and then at the bottom of the panel manually press the sync button to force an update. This should bring your new font into the library. 

Alternative Method: Download and Install the Font

If you want to use your Design Store font outside of Silhouette Studio (like in other design programs), you can download and install it on your computer. 

Go to your Silhouette Design Store account, click "My Orders," and find your font purchase. Click "View Order" and you'll see a download option. This downloads the actual font file to your computer.

The download will be a zip file containing the font files (usually OTF and TTF versions). Double-click to install the font on your computer. Once installed, restart Silhouette Studio (or whatever program where you want to be able to access the font to show up) and the font will appear in your regular Text Style list alongside your computer fonts.
