Welding a script fonts joins the overlapping areas between letters, but it then makes it impossible to change the text or even see the name of the text.

When you weld text it converts to a shape or path and that means it's not treated as text anymore in Silhouette Studio.  You can't edit it, you can't see what the font you used it and you can't change the font size like you normally would.

The better option is actually to Auto Weld your script fonts.

Until now this Silhouette text video has been in the Silhouette U library - only accessible to members. But this month it's available, in full, for anyone to watch in full to learn how to auto weld script fonts.
