Buried deep within Roland DG Connect there's a new Roland cut line creator that's totally free for Roland users to use to create cut lines and perf cut lines. Read on for how to find and use the browser-based tool.
Until now most Roland BN2 and BN users have been forced to use software like Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, or Flexi Designer to create cut lines for their print and cut projects. While FlexiDesigner is free with the Roland BN2, it's not with the BN-20A.
But now with Roland's browser-based Designer tool, you can create cut lines for Versaworks directly in your web browser without purchasing ANY additional software! This works on both PC and MAC (as does Versaworks 7) and it's completely free!
First you'll want to log into the Roland DG Connect website.
Under that tab you'll find "Designer." Click it and a new browser window will open! And this, my friends, is hope you can create cut lines without buying expensive software?
From here you'll simply click the Upload button and then navigate to your PNG or SVG on your computer.
Don't worry if the preview is all black..that seems like a bug. Just select the thumbnail to open it in the work space.
Select the image and then click the "Cut Contour" tool on the left side of the panel. Click > Generate from Selection and your cut lines will instantly be added to the design!
Now you can simply click the arrow next to the Save Design button and export the file as a PDF.
The cut lines will also export. You can use this file now to import into Versaworks and it will import with your cut lines!
