If you're like me, then you love spending a lazy Sunday afternoon in your craft room, surrounded by fabric, Heat Transfer Vinyl, and all of your crafting supplies. But if you're also like me, then you know that sometimes it can be hard to figure out how to size a design correctly in Silhouette Studio. Well, never fear! Today I'm going to show you how to size designs using the software's built-in tools. So grab your laptop and let's get started!

First, you will want to measure your embroidery hoop. Mine is 4" in diameter.

Next, you will want to create a circle in silhouette studio the size of the embroidery hoop.

Then it is time to pick a design I picked a fun one from the Humorous and Sarcastic Bundle from So Fontsy. It has over 150 designs for 90% off!

For a project this small I like to make the design have a buffer of about .25" around. So I made another smaller circle to show this sizing at 3.5" in diameter (blue circle). The you will want to open your design in silhouette studio sizing it to fit within the circles you have drawn.

Pro Tip: Click the design/shape and enter the exact dimensions you would like into the top bar's 'W' and 'H' entry boxes, by typing the width and height and pressing enter to carry out the wanted dimensions.

Next, delete your two sizing circles and mirror your design for cutting with Heat Transfer Vinyl.

Load your heat transfer vinyl in your Silhouette machine and cut your perfectly sized design.
