Easy Way to Layer Glitter HTV Over Smooth Heat Transfer Vinyl

I love trying new combinations of materials and while layering glitter HTV over smooth HTV isn't "new"...I am excited about this new combination!

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own

BFlex's glitter HTV line called Sandy Glitter is extra shiny and when combined with their matte HTV the results really pop - even in monotone!

I started in Silhouette Studio by separating what was originally just a single layer design by releasing the compound path and moving the flowers away from the turkey shape.

This gives me two different layers. What's great about the BFlex Gimme5 matte smooth heat transfer vinyl is you can layer the Sandy Glitter HTV on top of it. There's no need to subtract or knockout the area. AND both can go in the dryer so need to worry about peeling in the laundry.

The Sandy Glitter HTV has a bit more texture to it so it really pops off the surface which I love for projects like this one. The added dimension over BFlex's standard Glitter HTV line AND being dryer-safe are definitely attractive.

Because of the added thickness of the material, I found I needed to increase the Silhouette cut settings a bit and used a blade depth of 4, Force 33, and speed of 8 with two passes.  Even this really small intricate design cut and weeded really well with those settings.

Also worth noting, the 20" wide Sandy Glitter HTV I cut on my 24" Silhouette CAMEO Pro which was the first time ever I didn't have to trim down a full 20" wide roll of HTV so double win there!

While cutting both the smooth Gimme5 HTV and the Sandy Glitter I warmed my heat press up to 285 which is all you need for this smooth HTV.

A quick four second press applies the Gimme5 perfectly.

I bumped my press up to 305 for the Sandy Glitter and then laid it directly on top in the areas where the two heat transfer vinyl materials are layered.

Another 10 second press and we're done.

Didn't this come out adorable?! I just love how the glitter is extra shiny against the matte smooth HTV.

And one final tip, wait at least 12 hours after applying before washing and drying.
