As frustrating as it is, fortunately, there is a fix.

This fix includes several steps - shared with Silhouette School by Silhouette America - and found by several users experiencing this issue to indeed fix the problem.

Here's what you need to do if your fonts aren't in Silhouette Studio.

1. Press the Windows and R Keys
2. Type %localappdata% into the Run box
3. Press Okay
4. Open the Microsoft folder
5. Open the Windows folder
6. Open the Fonts folder
7. Right-click on each font
8. Select Install for ALL Users

Once installed, run Silhouette Studio.

This should fix the problem. If it doesn't and your fonts are still not showing up - or if you're on a MAC and your fonts are not loading in Silhouette Studio - there could be another issue. Check out this Silhouette tutorial for the three most commons reasons fonts aren't found in Silhouette Studio.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! This would have saved me HOURS the other night (avoiding my required-Photoshop-workaround) if I had just searched for your solution first! Thankfully it's saving me on tonight's projects, so I really appreciate it!!!

  5. When I try to go into the windows run box and put in %localappdata%, I get the question of what do I want to use to open this? It gives me some options and none of them are opening up the right area of the files. Anyone have a solution for me? I had this computer fixed a while back so it may not be the same as a normal machine now. Thanks for any advice.

  12. So will I have to do this every time I download new fonts?

    1. Nope! In general, you will not have to use these steps. Usually if Silhouette Studio is closed, you install your font and reopen, they will show.

  14. Thank you for this! FYI, you can use CTRL + A to select all of the fonts, then right-click and install for all users. I know I have more fonts than I have sense, so doing that saved me a lot of time and clicking.

  17. This was the perfect fix for a while. Now it is not working. The last few weeks, fonts are not showing. I have followed the steps repeatedly, and they continue to be missing from silhouette. Is there a max number of fonts available or another reason why I can no longer add new fonts?

    1. Hey there! It sounds like your computer might have a setting blocking fonts on your computer rather than a setting in Silhouette Studio.

    2. Thanks for the response. I install and it will open on notepad and other typing apps so it's super confusing. I'll try anything at this point. Uninstalling studio and reinstalling didn't work

  21. A few other things to make sure: font is not the same name as another font that's already installed. Also, if it is part of a font family, click the down arrow next to the underline icon to find the other parts of the font family.
