I've shared several Silhouette cookie stencil tutorials on the blog and today I have another one for you. Since the craft room and not the kitchen is more my thing, I'm happy to have Nancy from The Colorful Cookie on Silhouette School blog to share this one with you!

If you want to try your hand at cookie stencils this holiday season, this is an easy beginner cookie stencil project that anyone can do.  I'm even providing the free cookie stencil design file for you!

The stencil was designed in Silhouette Studio using a commercial font. I modified it a bit so the letters won’t fall out of the stencil frame when they are cut if they are bridged.  The bridges are necessary in a stencil that does not have an adhesive backing. Those little bridges keep the letters in place.

If you're not sure how to make the bridges in Silhouette Studio, Melissa has tutorial on creating stencil-friendly designs which explains it!

With the stencil design ready, cut it on Grafix .007 or Ruralar by Graphix .005. My recommended cut settings for Grafix .007 are: Chipboard, Blade 7, Speed 2, Force 33, and Passes: 4.

Once my cookies have royal icing, they're ready for airbrushing or scraping more icing over the top of the stencil.

After you cut the cookie stencil, use the The Stencil Genie to hold it in place while you airbrush.

I also made a few other designs for this set! Look how cut this Paint You Own cookie design is! Kids loooove these!

For this one, I didn't airbrush, I actually scraped royal icing over the top of the stencil which leaves the outline.

The paint palettes are made using Smarties candy. They have a little gel food color painted on them. The brush is dipped in a little water and Santa gets painted. It is a fun activity and a snack all in one!
