Is the Eufymake E1 the Best UV Printer for Small Business?

If you're looking for the best UV Printer for your small business, you've probably realized pretty quickly there are not a whole lot of options.

The Eufymake E1 UV printer is the first desktop UV printer to hit the market, but is the low priced UV printer up for the job or is it more of a hobby machine for crafters and casual users?

Having used the Eufymake E1 for several months now, I can confidently say the quality of the UV prints and even the UV sticker is professional. The colors are stunning, bright, and vibrant. I've printed on everything from corrugated plastic for photo booth props to mirror and clear acrylic.

The results are stunning.

The E1 gives you the flexibility to print directly on flat objects, rounded items like tumblers and also directly onto UV sticker sheets.  While the footprint is small, the flatbed allows for overhang which makes the printing area larger than you'd probably expect.

As far as quality of prints, for custom items the Eufymake E1 is definitely one of the best uv printers for small shop.

Is the Eufymake E1 fast enough for a business?

Where it struggles a bit is speed and so the question of if the E1 is fast enough for business is a fair one. While the prints are stunning, a slow printer can eat your margins if you're trying to fill orders and actually make money. So the real concern is not whether the E1 is up for the job, but whether it's fast enough to run a business on.

To be honest, nothing about the Eufymake E1 is fast.  It's been my single biggest frustration with the machine.  The single print head UV printer is slow to print. Need to swap flatbeds? The calibration is slow. The camera image capture of the flatbed (required before every print) is slow. Measuring the object height is slow, laying down texture is slow and coming out of maintenance mode is slow.

The good news though is you can speed up the process and cut down the per print time just by changing a handful of settings and tweaking your workflow.  I put together a full rundown of those speed tips in a separate video, so rather than repeat all of it here, you can watch my eufyMake E1 speed tips here.

The single biggest time saver: zero point alignment

Now, if you only change one thing to cut down the time it takes your E1 to do a job, make it this. On a normal print, the E1 takes a photo to find your item and line up the design every single time, and that alignment step is one of the slowest parts of the whole job.

Zero Point Alignment lets you skip it. You calibrate the zero point of your mat one time and during that process a small orange L shaped mark is printed on your flatbed.

After that you can place a regular shaped item, like a coaster, magnet or jig at that known spot. It works by setting the position of the design to the same spot as the mark in the software.

You can also do batch work this way since the zero point alignment works on measurement instead of the visual image the camera would give you in the preview.

See exactly how to set up zero point

There is a one time calibration you have to do correctly before zero point alignment will work, and then a specific way to place your item and line up your design so your prints land exactly where you want them. I walk through the whole thing, the calibration and a first print using it, step by step in a Silhouette U video so you can set it up right the first time. Is the eufyMake E1 right for your business?

Here's my honest take on if the E1 is the best UV printer for a small business? Honestly, probably not if you are under real time pressure to fill orders, because the speed is the one place it will cost you. But speed is only one factor.

If your bigger constraints are budget, space, or needing one machine that can print on flat items, rounded items, and UV sticker sheets all in one, then the low price, the diversity of what it can do, and the small footprint may easily outweigh the slower print times especially if you take all the steps to optimize the speed. For a lot of small shops those tradeoffs are exactly the ones worth making, and in that case the eufyMake E1 becomes very tough to beat.

And if you are tired of stitching together random, outdated tutorials every time you hit a wall with a new machine, that is exactly what Silhouette U was built to fix.
