Best Embroidery Machine on a Budget - Why I Recommend the Brother SE2000

When most people hear "embroidery machine" they picture either a cheap beginner machine that lacks features leading to limiting frustrations or a professional multi-needle setup that costs as much as a used car. But there is a sweet spot. And I found it.

The Brother SE2000 starts at $1,499 - and in the world of embroidery machines, that is genuinely on a budget. Especially when you look at everything this machine can do.

I upgraded from my original Brother SE600 and couldn't be happier.  After using it for a year or more, I'm ready to show you exactly why the SE2000 is my top pick for the best embroidery machine on a budget.

It's a sewing and embroidery machine in one

One of the things that makes the SE2000 such a great value is you're not just getting an embroidery machine. You're getting a full sewing machine with 241 built-in stitches and a 5x7 inch embroidery machine in one package.

Compare that to my old SE600 which only had a 4x4 embroidery hoop. That extra embroidery space makes a big difference in what you can embroider.

The Artspira app changes everything

This is a feature that a lot of people overlook or at least downplay when deciding on what embroidery machine to buy. The Brother SE2000 connects wirelessly to the Artspira app on your phone - which means you can transfer designs directly from your phone to your machine with zero thumb drives or cables.

The Artspira app comes loaded with over 5,000 built-in designs and fonts. You can, of course, also add your own designs. And you can even digitize your own SVG files directly in the app - so if you have a design that isn't set up for embroidery yet, you can convert it yourself right from your phone.

It's incredibly beginner friendly

I'll be honest with you - I am not a professional embroiderer. I'm a crafter who pairs embroidery with other projects and equipment - including HTV and my CAMEO. The SE2000 was designed for exactly that kind of person.

The large touchscreen walks you through every single step.

The automatic needle threader means you're not squinting at a tiny needle or reaching for your readers every time you change thread. There are built-in speed controls for bobbin winding and embroidering so you can go at your own pace.

Even the setup is beginner friendly - getting it on your wireless network and connected to the Artspira app is straightforward once you follow the steps.
