Brother SE2000 Red Light On? Here's the Embarrassingly Simple Fix

If you're here because your Brother SE2000 has a red light that won't turn off and nothing you try is working - I have been EXACTLY where you are. And I have good news.

The fix took about two seconds. I just didn't know what it was. And oh by the way - it's not disassembling anything.

Read on for how to get the green light on the Brother SE200 embroidery machine so you can get back to sewing.

What is actually happening with the red light

So here's the thing. I spent hours trying to figure this out. I changed the presser foot. I took the embroidery hoop off. I pulled the pedal in and out. I examined the bobbin and the thread path and the tension. I submitted a support ticket. I even got on the phone with Brother support.

You know what the answer was? It was the screensaver.

The Brother SE2000 has a screensaver that kicks in after a period of inactivity. When it does, the red light comes on and the machine appears unresponsive. It is NOT an error. It is NOT broken. It just needs to be woken up.

How to fix the Brother SE2000 red light

This is almost too simple. Just touch the touchscreen. Not the buttons below the screen - the actual touchscreen itself.

That's it. The machine will wake up, when you put the presser foot down the red light will turn off, the green light will turn on and you'll be back to sewing or embroidering like nothing happened.

If you don't want this to happen again, you can turn the screensaver off completely. Here's how:

Press the settings button at the bottom of the machine - it looks like a small piece of paper. Use the right arrow key to scroll across to page six. You'll see an option called "Opening screen" - press Off and then OK.

Turn your machine off and back on. From now on it will go straight to the menu every time - no screensaver, no red light confusion.
