Step 1 - Set up your Brother SE2000 on wireless network

The first thing you want to do after unboxing is get your Brother SE2000 connected to your wireless network. This is what makes the Artspira app work - and trust me, you want to use the the Artspira app.

Step 2 - Download and install the Brother Artspira app

Once your machine is on the network, it's time to get the Artspira app set up on your phone. This is the app that lets you transfer designs wirelessly - no thumb drive needed!

You'll scan the QR code from your machine's manual, create or log in with an existing account, and verify your email. The whole process takes just a few minutes and of course I walk you through the whole thing.

Step 3 - Connect the Artspira app to your Brother SE2000

Okay, I will be honest with you - this step has a few more steps than you might expect! You have to go back and forth between your phone and your machine to enter codes and confirm the connection.

This setup works for the Brother SE2000, SE700, SE900, and Skitch. Once it's done it's done - and wireless design transfer is game changer.

Step 4 - Wind a bobbin on your Brother SE2000

One of the most common questions I get is why the Brother machine isn't winding the bobbin correctly. Nine times out of ten it's a setup issue and it's an easy fix once you know the right steps!

In this video I show you which spool attachment to use, how to route the thread correctly, how to wrap it manually before winding, and how to adjust the speed so you don't get tension issues.

Step 5 - Thread your Brother SE2000

Threading a sewing machine is one of those things that feels intimidating the first time but becomes second nature fast. The Brother SE2000 has an automatic needle threader built in - which is honestly one of my favorite features on this machine.

I walk you through the full upper threading path (steps 1 through 8), how to use the automatic threader correctly, and how to pull up the bobbin thread so you're ready to start embroidering.

Step 6 - Switch from sewing to embroidery mode

The Brother SE2000 is both a sewing machine AND an embroidery machine - which means if you've been using it for sewing, you'll need to swap it back to embroidery mode before you can start a project. This involves swapping the presser foot and the base frame, and it's not totally obvious the first time.

Step 7 - Get embroidery designs from your computer to your machine

Once you're set up, you'll want to embroider designs beyond just the built-in ones. The easiest way to load a purchased or downloaded design is via USB thumb drive. I'll show you how to find the right file size, pick the correct PES format for Brother machines, and load it onto the machine touchscreen in just a few clicks.

Step 8 - Your first embroidery project start to finish

Once you've got everything set up, it's time to actually embroider something. I walk you through picking a beginner-friendly design from the SE2000's built-in library, hooping your fabric with stabilizer, loading the hoop onto the machine, and watching it stitch out start to finish. One color, one design, zero stress.

Step 9 - HTV applique with your Brother SE2000

Once you have the basics down, HTV applique is one of the most satisfying techniques you can try on your SE2000. Before you panic - if you see a red light on your Brother SE2000 and nothing seems to be working, just touch the touchscreen. I spent hours trying to fix this before a Brother support rep told me in under a minute that it was just the screensaver.
