One of the easiest ways to improve the quality of White Toner transfers is by adding natural breaks to the artwork also known as rasterizing.
This can be done by removing the shirt color, adding holes or lines or adding a vintage-looking distress filter. Uninet recently released a new update to iColor ProRip Essentials that offers a built in distressing feature. In this tutorial I'll show you just how easy it is to use.
Open your design or artwork in ProRip Essentials (included free with the iColor 560 White Toner printer). I'm using this solid, full color design from So Fontsy. You can see there aren't many breaks in the design itself. If the transfer was printed as is, it wouldn't have much stretchability, flexibility or breathability.
By adding natural breaks with a distressed filter, small areas of the design will be removed creating a better quality, softer transfer!
With the design open in the work area, right click and select "Special Effects."
In the window that opens select "Distressed" from the Available Effects.
You'll see about 10 options for distressed filters so pick your favorite.
Click 'Ok' to apply and your design will be instantly updated with a distress filter.
Distressing is just one way to rasterize artwork to prepare it for White Toner printing on your iColor 560 or 650. You can also add holes or lines and/or remove the shirt color.
