Epson F570 Cutter Maintenance Error on New Sublimation Printer

If you have a brand new 24" Epson F570 sublimation printer and you're getting a cutter error...do not worry.

While your first instinct is probably to reach out to Epson you can more than likely save yourself some time and stress with a quick DIY fix for this Maintenance Error.  Read on for how to fix the Epson F570 cutter error.
The 24" Epson F570 sublimation printer has a cross cutter to trim the sublimation paper.  When the cutter errors, it prevents you from printing at all (even though it has nothing to do with actual printing). This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...but no one asked what I thought when they designed this printer.

What I do know, from personal experience, is that you likely don't need a replacement printer and you likely don't need to even replace the cross cutter - especially if your F570 is brand new.

What is apparently not all that uncommon is that the sensor for the cutter gets bumped out of place during shipping and then when the cutter moves into its home position for the first time it bumps it out of place further.

To check if this is the case, open the cover where the cross cutter sits.

You can gently move the cross cutter to the right and out of the way.

You're looking for the sensor which is small black piece that's circled below.

If your cross cutter is not upright and instead leaning to one side, gently push it back into the position. It should kind of snap back into place.

Then close the cover and try to clear the error.

If after fixing the cutter sensor you are still experiencing the Epson F570 cutter error, then it's a good idea to reach out to Epson's support.
