Wood Burning Signs: Quick and Fun Silhouette Craft for Camping Theme

Pair custom cut stencils, torch paste, and unfinished wood blanks to create camping theme Silhouette crafts. Read on for a quick Silhouette tutorial on how to get started wood burning for beginners! 

Custom stencils are one of my favorite things to make with Silhouette CAMEO 4 since they are so versatile. You can cut stencils out of vinyl, HTV, stencil material or even paper and then either use paint, ink, or even some type of wood burning gel to create the design.

For this quick and easy camping theme craft, we cut stencil material to use to make a wood burning sign.

The stencil we've chosen for this Silhouette camping theme craft is an SVG from the Bundle of Bundles 2022 at So Fontsy.

Since we're going for a camping theme on this sign, we brushed a light coat of DIY torch paste over the stencil instead of using paint.  The wood burn will give us an outdoorsy, camp side fire-pit vibe.

Before applying heat to activate the wood burning gel, remove the stencil from the wood sign.

    You reference DIY torch paste….is this a paste that can be made w everyday products at home or a store bought paste for use in DIY projects? I am familiar w the store bought products but not aware they can be made at home….thank you.
