Just-Add-a-Monogram Thank You Cards: Free Silhouette Studio Cut File

It's Freebie Friday at Silhouette School and this week I have a thank you card template for you! All you have to do is add a monogram in your favorite font, change the color if you prefer,  and you're ready to print and cut these standard A6 size DIY note cards.

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, monogram thank you card, DIY, do it yourself
I designed this set for my husband because it's not easy to find 'manly' thank you notes. Seriously...I've looked (in the all of 5 minute notice he gave me before he needed to mail them).

Because of the size of these cards, unfortunately only one fits on an 8.5x11" sheet of card stock.  But if you're not printing too many you can get them print and cut in just a few minutes!

As always, this Studio cut file is free for personal use only!

I also made him some matching return address labels...because, well you know, I'm an awesome wife like that! Just snag the middle square, resize it, and add your info.  I print and cut these on my favorite alternative to Silhouette sticker paper. TIP: The easiest way to just get the outer edge of the square to cut is to do a VERY small offset (.005) and just cut the offset while leaving everything else 'no cut'.

22 Silhouette Tutorial You Can't Afford to Miss (Silhouette School July Wrap Up)

So it's the end of July...I swear I say this every month but how did that happen?  We've been having so much fun here at Silhouette School that I blink and the month's over and its' time for another Silhouette tutorial wrap up.

Applying Heat Transfer Vinyl on Glass: Silhouette Tutorial

Did you know it's possible to apply heat transfer vinyl to glass? Totally is! Today Becky and Glenna from My Paper Craze are back to explain exactly how to do this!
***
I'm constantly stocking up on glitter everything.  Between me, my daughter and my friends, there's always something that needs glittered up.  I love keeping it on hand, but when a project arises, it always seems like I have stocked up on everything EXCEPT what I need. So for this project, I typically would have chosen glitter permanent adhesive vinyl, but I already had the HTV (heat transfer vinyl) on hand and I knew the colors were perfect. The only question was, could I put it on glass?

Free 'Hand Wash Only' Sticker Sheet Set (Free Silhouette Studio Cut File)

It's Friday and that means I have a free Silhouette Studio cut file for you today.   This week's freebie is a sticker sheet set that should come in handy for those who add vinyl to glassware.

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, hand wash only sticker sheet

Almost daily I'm asked what the best type of vinyl to use on glassware is so it can be washed.  For the record, you want to use 651/permanent/outdoor vinyl.

BUT you also want to make sure that you - or whoever is doing the dishes - is hand-washing any items with vinyl on them.  Adhesive vinyl is not dishwasher safe.

Do I sometimes slip a monogrammed wine glass in on the top shelf? Of course.  Does the vinyl come off? No. But there's always the risk.

So when I make items that I give as gifts or sell, I always put a 'Hand Wash Only' sticker on the item, or on a business card that I slip in with the item, just to play it safe.

How to Change Silhouette Studio Selection Box Default Settings

I know I can't be the only one who's OCD starts to kick in when I select multiple shapes in Silhouette Studio and get 8683 little green rotational handles and the dimension of every single piece of the design pops up.

There's just too much going on there and I find it difficult to 'see' what I'm doing in this mode.

DIY Vinyl Weeding Lightbox

A few weeks ago I had a reader contact me bragging on her husband and the light box he made her for weeding vinyl.  Ohhh emmmm gee, you guys, I'm still drooling over this thing which is why I decided I just HAD to share this with all of you so you can make one, too.

Does Press 'N Seal as Vinyl Transfer Tape Really Work? (Silhouette Tutorial & Review)

Have you ever wanted to throw together a quick vinyl project only to realize you've run out of transfer tape?  Silhouette School contributors Becky and Glenna from My Paper Craze are in the classroom today to share a lesson on using Press'n Seal as a transfer tape substitute.

Silhouette, Press 'N Seal, transfer tape, Silhouette Cameo, Silhouette Projects

I was so excited when I got my snacker cup in the mail that I had ordered and I just couldn't wait to slap some vinyl on it. I was heartbroken when I realized I hadn't bought any more transfer tape after I ran out. Can you guess what my solution was? Glad Press'n Seal Wrap to the rescue (or so I hope!).

DIY Silhouette Art with Vinyl and Cardstock (No Tricky Photography or Editing Needed)

DIY Silhouette Art is really popular, but it can be a challenge if you have to take a picture in front of a window or use a special design program to remove the background.  With your Silhouette, you don't need either! All you need is vinyl and cardstock.

Silhouette Studio, art, DIY, do it yourself, vinyl, cardstock
Expressions Vinyl provided Silhouette School the vinyl for this awesome project - and tons of others on this blog!

The great thing about making silhouette art with your Silhouette is you don't need any tricky photography or editing.  All you need is a semi-profile picture of your child.  Since my kids can't ever seem to face the camera when I'm taking a picture anyway, I had an abundance of profile photos to choose from.

Free Owl Studio Cut File (Silhouette School Freebie Friday)

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, owl
It's Friday which means I have another Freebie Friday Silhouette Studio cut file for you! Today I'm giving away an owl design I created using just some basic shapes and the replication tool in Silhouette Studio.

I created this design as an HTV design for a onesie and the nice thing is it's perfectly symmetrical so you don't even have to remember to mirror it.  It would also be cute as a wall decal in a child's room...just change the color that you cut on to make it go with any color scheme or for boys or girls.  Of course you can also cut it on paper, sketch it, or create a stencil!

Remember, all Silhouette Studio free cut files are for personal use only so please don't sell the files or sell items made with the file.

Thanks for coming to class today at Silhouette School.  If you like what you see, I'd love for you to pin it!

Girl's Circle Monogram Anchor Beach Cover Up from Men's T-Shirt (Silhouette HTV Tutorial)

I may be known to raid the Goodwill pile to feed my crafting/blogging habit. No need to get rid of perfectly good cotton shirts that I can practice on, right? Or better yet, turn into a cover up!

Silhouette Cameo, Silhouette Studio, monogram, anchor, beach cover up, men's t-shirt

A few weeks ago I grabbed a yellow t-shirt that my husband no longer wanted/needed/wore. I had no idea what I would do with it until about 10:30 one night as I was lying in bed and from that moment on the idea plagued me until I carried it out. Does that happen to anyone else?

Amazon is celebrating a one day global sales event they promise will be bigger than Black Friday this week - and the good news is you don't have to be a paying Prime member to participate.  Amazon Prime Day is Wednesday, July 15.  Mostly all Silhouette brand items and many of my favorite blanks are Prime eligible, it's a pretty safe bet there will be some good deals on at least a few Silhouette and crafting must have's.

Now I don't know about you, but as a crafter I buy A LOT of my Silhouette supplies and blanks on Amazon.  The yearly Amazon Prime membership fee is more than worth it for the two day free shipping, free Prime videos, Kindle books and Prime Music.

Only Amazon Prime members will be able to participate in Amazon Prime Day to gain access to the thousands of lighting and daily deals across all categories.  If you're not a current Prime member, you don't have to fully commit to take advantage of this rare event - you can sign up for a FREE 30 day Amazon Prime Trial.

Today you can consider me your personal Amazon shopper.  I've put together two must-have shopping lists so you can simply go down the list, click the link and check for deals.  You can even add these to an Amazon Wish List so you can easily check prices on Amazon Prime Day. The first list is a list of my favorite Silhouette must-haves.  The other is a list of popular blanks that can be 'vinylized' or are popular items that are sold by Silhouette crafters.

Set of Crossfit Guys & Girls (Free Silhouette Studio Cut File)

This week's Freebie Friday is inspired by my husband who's a Crossfit-aholic.  I'm pretty sure that's a word...or at least a class of people.   If it's not, it should be.

Anyway, about a year ago Mr. Crossfit asked me to design a shirt for him to wear to Crossfit so I came up with a set of stick figure-ish Crossfit guys.

Using a Cricut Mat with Silhouette

We all know that crafting supplies aren't exactly budget-friendly, especially those wear-and-tear items like cutting mats and blades.  Today we bring you a super easy tip to converting Cricut Cutting Mats (or other brands for that matter) to meet Silhouette parameters.

Silhouette Cameo, Cricut, Cricut mat, cutting mat

The question you may be asking is: Why would you want or need to use a Cricut or other brand cutting mat?  First, they are cheaper than Silhouette mats by about 50% on Amazon (don't forget your free Prime shipping!). Second, Cricut products can typically be found at local craft stores to use in a pinch. And third, the thicker Cricut mats hold up better to abuse than thinner Silhouette mats.

Accordion Fold Card Tutorial: It's Easy with Silhouette Studio!

Welcome to class Silhouette School students. My name is Kelly and Melissa has asked me to substitute teach for her today. I normally teach over at Simply Kelly Designs where I share Silhouette tutorials, crafty creations and my digital scrapbook designs.

My lesson plan for today is to show you how to design an accordion fold card in Silhouette Studio. I created a DAD accordion fold card for Father's Day but today I will show you how to design a MOM accordion fold card. I'm giving this card to my mom for her birthday.

One of the keys to creating a great word accordion fold card is to find the right font. I like to use a bold font where the letters are close to the same width. Check out this tutorial on my method to choose the perfect font every time.

Wood Doll House and Peg People with Silhouette Clothes & Decor (Free Cut Files)

In case you didn't pick up from my Instagram feed, my kids are home for the summer...trying to work full time from home with two little shadows can be a challenge.  But...things got a whole lot easier when I recently discovered these awesome new kids crafting kits at Jo-ann Fabrics. Jennifer Garner introduced her new, We Made It, line recently - and there's something for kids with pretty much any interest.

This is a sponsored post, but as always all opinions are my own.
My six year old daughter is really into crafting and likes to use my Silhouette so when Joann Fabrics offered to have us test out the wooden doll house, we jumped at the chance.  Plus I knew we could make it extra special by really personalizing it with some Silhouette goodies.

My Top 10 Favorite Vinyl Blanks Projects

Silhouette Cameo, vinyl, blanks
Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing 10 of my all time favorite blanks projects.

You know what blanks are right?  They're the "things" in the saying "Vinyl all the things".  Ah ha I knew you'd get it when I explained it that way.

I love blanks because they give you the chance to pretty much personalize and customize any way you want to.  Punch Place Plus is one of my go-to suppliers for blanks because of their huge assortment of blanks and their rock bottom prices.

All 10 of these blanks projects were done using Punch Place Plus blanks which is pretty hard to believe considering there's everything from jewelry to burlap to doll accessories and workout gear in the group!

And in no particular order here are my top 10 favorites...Just click on the title to go to the Silhouette School tutorial. Within each tutorial you'll be given the supply list and more details on the blanks needed.

Oh, and don't forget to join Punch Place Plus' new Acrylic Cloth Blanks Facebook group where you'll be among the first notified of new blanks available, but also you'll find inspiration and ideas from other users who are working with the same products!!

Set of 5 Canister Labels: Free Silhouette Studio Cut File (Customizable)

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, canister labels
It's Friday and that means it's  Freebie Friday around here! Every week on Silhouette School I offer a free .Studio Cut File just to show you how much I love ya!

This week I thought I'd do a throwback.  One of the very things I ever cut with my Silhouette was a set of vinyl labels for some vintage glass canisters I found at my local thrift store. I look at them on my counter daily...ah and to think that was the start of something so amazing.  Okay sorry....

Anyway, at the time I used a tag to create the label shape but since I got the tag elsewhere I can't give that one away. So I designed my own similar labels and that's what I'm giving you today. Can you believe these tags are just a rounded rectangle, a two squares and two ovals all welded together and then internal offset?

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, canister labels, Silhouette Cameo, vinyl, DIY, do it yourself

I added text for what I thought were some of the most common canisters (because I know most people don't keep almond and coconut flour in theirs.)  But these are customizable so you can easily change the text for your needs.

Oh and the best part is - if you carefully weed out the center of the label, you can use it too! It's like a two for one...you can see that's what I did on the back side of my canisters.

As always my free .studio cut files are for personal use only can can't be sold or used on items that are sold.
